Services
Scientific and technical translation with rigour, coherence and quality control.
Choose the service that best suits your material and the stage your documentation is at. I work with professional CAT tools to ensure terminological consistency and efficiency, without compromising human judgement.
Available services
Choose the service that best fits your project: human translation, post-editing or two types of review. Quality, terminological coherence and clarity designed for documentation where there is no margin for error.
Human translation
I offer specialised technical translations in engineering, science, medical devices and mountain equipment. Each project is approached from the original text, applying rigorous terminological criteria, internal coherence and adaptation to the communicative purpose of the document. The result is a precise, clear translation ready to be integrated into technical, documentation or manufacturing processes.
Translations are charged per word, using a computer-assisted translation tool (CAT) that detects repetitions and reuses them, removing their cost in order to optimise the final price.
Machine translation post-editing
Post-editing involves working on a text generated by machine translation engines. This type of content may contain recurring errors: structural calques, ambiguities, omissions, incorrect or inconsistent terminology, or even so-called “hallucinations” — random translations that have nothing to do with the source text.
For this reason, post-editing has a lower cost per word than translation, but a higher cost than review,as it requires more thorough analysis and in-depth correction so that the result meets the linguistic, technical and precision standards required in the fields of engineering, science and medical devices.
Human translation review
This service consists of checking and optimising a translation previously carried out by a professional. The review focuses on conceptual accuracy, terminological consistency, fluency and stylistic correctness within the required technical register.
Review usually has a lower cost per word because it starts from a text produced by a human translator, in which the structure and linguistic decisions are already well founded.
Post-editing review
Post-editing review applies to texts that have already undergone a post-editing process but require additional quality control.
This type of review is more demanding than the review of a human translation, because the content may still contain errors inherited from machine translation that were not detected during post-editing: insufficiently adapted terminology, semantic inconsistencies, unnatural structures or deviations from the source text.
As a result, this service also has a slightly higher cost than the review of a human translation,as it requires a meticulous assessment to ensure a level of quality equivalent to that of a professional human translation.
Work process
The process varies slightly depending on the service requested, but it always begins with receipt of the corresponding material.
What I need (depending on the service)
Human translation:
The original documents or files in a format compatible with CAT tools, as explained below.
Human translation review:
The translation carried out by a professional.
Post-editing:
The original document to generate the appropriate machine translation, or a machine translation of sufficient quality.
Post-editing review:
The text already post-edited by a professional translator.
01.
Analysis and quote
Once I have received the files, I carry out a preliminary analysis using CAT tools to identify new content, reusable matches and relevant technical elements. Based on this analysis, I send a detailed quote and an estimated delivery deadline..
In projects where the nature of the material significantly slows down the process — for example, lists of surgical materials without context, which require term-by-term research — the work is charged by the hour, and deadlines are adjusted accordingly.
02.
Layout and accepted formats
To guarantee a final delivery that is consistent with the design of the original document, I work exclusively with editable Microsoft Office formats, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint or with simple-structure PDFs generated from these programs. Computer-assisted translation tools make it possible to preserve the layout of these files reliably, ensuring an accurate reproduction of the format in the final document.
In the case of complex PDFs — for example, those created in InDesign, Illustrator or other professional layout programs,or those containing images with embedded text, diagrams, embedded tables, etc. — automatic reconstruction of the format is not technically viable. In these projects, I can provide the translation of the textual content, but the final layout must be carried out by the client’s design department or by a professional layout specialist.
03.
Managing terminology queries
During the translation process, if terminology issues, ambiguities in the source text or elements requiring technical confirmation arise,I will prepare a query document for the client to review.
This document will be sent before final delivery,so that any clarification can be incorporated into the final file, ensuring the technical precision of the content.
04.
Confirmation and delivery
When the client accepts the quote and the deadline, they send their binding purchase order..
On the agreed date, I deliver the final work and the corresponding invoice..
05.
Optional external review
(Applicable to Human translation and Post-editing services.)
If the client wishes, both for translation and post-editing services, they may commission the review of my translation by an external reviewer of their choice. All my translations are prepared following industry quality best practices, so that any additional review process can be carried out smoothly and without complications..
06.
Payment terms
The payment term is 30 days. The preferred payment method is bank transfer in euros to an account in Spain, although payment via PayPal in other common currencies is also possible.
Guarantees
My priority is to offer a reliable, rigorous service adapted to the standards of the technical, scientific and medical sectors. To do so, I apply the following quality and management commitments:
Quality guarantee
I guarantee the correction of any error detected after project delivery. If the client identifies a terminological, consistency or accuracy issue, I will review and correct the content at no additional cost, provided that neither the source text nor the initial requirements have been modified.
Commitment to deadlines
I undertake to meet the deadlines established in the accepted quote. This commitment applies as long as the files provided are correct and editable, and there are no changes to the scope of work once the project has started.
Confidentiality
All documents and data provided by the client are treated with strict confidentiality and exclusively for the provision of the contracted service. If the project requires it, I can work under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) provided by the client or provide one of my own.
Traceability and linguistic control
To guarantee terminological and stylistic consistency, I work with computer-assisted translation tools that make it possible to maintain translation memories, specialised glossaries and precise content control. This ensures coherence in repetitive projects, extensive technical documentation and subsequent reviews or extensions of the client’s product.
