Human translation
I offer specialised technical translations in engineering, science, medical devices and mountain equipment. Each project is based on the original text, applying rigorous terminology criteria, internal consistency and adaptation to the communicative purpose of the document. The result is a precise, clear translation ready to be integrated into technical, documentation or manufacturing processes.
Translations are charged per word, using a computer-assisted translation tool (CAT) that detects repetitions and reuses them at no cost, optimising the final price.
Machine translation post-editing
Post-editing involves working on a text produced by machine translation engines. This type of content often contains recurring issues such as structural calques, ambiguities, omissions, inconsistent or incorrect terminology, and so-called “hallucinations” — outputs that do not correspond to the source text.
For this reason, post-editing is priced lower per word than translation, but higher than revision, as it requires a more in-depth analysis and correction process to ensure that the final text meets the linguistic, technical and accuracy standards required in engineering, science and medical devices.
Human translation review
This service involves reviewing and refining a translation previously produced by a professional translator. The review focuses on conceptual accuracy, terminological consistency, fluency and stylistic appropriateness, ensuring that the text is clear, coherent and fully aligned with its intended purpose.
Review usually costs less per word because it is based on a text produced by a human translator, in which the structure and linguistic choices are already sound. The work therefore focuses on checking accuracy, improving consistency and resolving any further issues, rather than translating the content from scratch.
Post-edition review
This service applies to texts that have already undergone post-editing but require an additional quality assurance.
This type of review is more demanding than the review of a human translation because the text may still contain issues inherited from machine translation that were not identified during post-editing, such as inadequately adapted terminology, semantic inconsistencies, unnatural phrasing or deviations from the source text.
As a result, this service is usually priced slightly higher than the review of a human translation, as it requires a thorough assessment to ensure a level of quality comparable to that of a professionally translated text.

Analysis and Quote
Once I receive the files, I analyse them using CAT tools to identify new content, repeated segments and any technical aspects that may require special attention. Based on this analysis, I provide a detailed quote together with an estimated delivery date.
In some projects, the nature of the material requires a significantly greater research effort. This may be the case, for example, with lists of surgical supplies presented without context, where each term must be researched individually. In such cases, the work is billed on an hourly basis and delivery times are adjusted accordingly.

Layout and Accepted File Formats
To ensure that the final translation remains consistent with the layout of the original document, I work exclusively with editable Microsoft Office files, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, as well as with simple PDF files generated from these formats. CAT tools make it possible to preserve the layout reliably, ensuring that the translated document closely matches the original in both structure and formatting.
Complex PDF files, however, present technical limitations. This includes PDFs created in InDesign, Illustrator or other professional publishing applications, as well as files containing text embedded in images, diagrams, tables or other graphic elements. In these cases, the translation of the textual content can be provided, but the final layout must be completed by the client's design team or by a professional desktop publishing specialist.

Project Confirmation and Translation Process
Once the client has accepted the quote and delivery schedule, a purchase order or other formal confirmation is required before work can begin.
During the translation process, terminology issues, ambiguities in the source text or technical points requiring clarification may occasionally arise. In such cases, I compile a query sheet for the client to review.
This document is sent before final delivery so that any clarifications can be incorporated into the translated files, ensuring the technical accuracy and consistency of the final text.

Submission of the assignment
Once any queries raised during the translation process have been resolved, I deliver the completed translation on the agreed date together with the corresponding invoice.

Optional External Proofreading

If you wish, you may have my translation proofread by an external reviewer of your choice. This option is available for both human translation and post-editing projects. All translations are prepared in accordance with professional best practices, using consistent terminology and a structured workflow to ensure that any subsequent proofreading or review can be carried out efficiently and without unnecessary revisions.

Payment Terms
Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date. My preferred payment method is bank transfer in euros to a Spanish bank account. Alternatively, payment can be made via PayPal in other major currencies.

All documents and information provided by the client are treated in the strictest confidence and used solely for the provision of the agreed services. Where required, I am happy to work under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) provided by the client or to supply my own.

To ensure terminological consistency and linguistic coherence, I use computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools to maintain translation memories, specialised glossaries and a consistent translation workflow. This ensures consistency across ongoing projects, large volumes of technical documentation and future updates or extensions to the client's documentation.
